Last updated: September 7, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of DEV-TO-DEV, a professional network for developers. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By registering for an account, signing in, or otherwise accessing or using DEV-TO-DEV, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you are using the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or older, as required in your jurisdiction) to use DEV-TO-DEV. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have not been previously suspended or removed from the service.
3. Your Account
- You sign in to DEV-TO-DEV using a third-party account (GitHub or Google). We use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it, including any content posted and actions taken.
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete profile information (such as your username, display name, bio, location, and experience level) and to keep it up to date.
- You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised or used without authorization.
4. User Content
"User Content" means anything you post, upload, submit, or otherwise make available through DEV-TO-DEV, including posts, comments, project details, questions, answers, messages, marketplace listings, profile information, and media (such as images and videos).
- You retain ownership of your User Content.
- By posting User Content, you grant DEV-TO-DEV a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as necessary to operate, provide, and improve the service (for example, to show your posts in the feed and store your uploaded media).
- You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring you have all necessary rights, permissions, and consents to share it.
- We may remove or refuse to display any User Content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
5. Posts and Comments
- You may create posts with a title, body content, and technology tags, and you may attach images or videos (which are stored using Cloudinary).
- You may comment on posts and like posts. Likes are stored per account and cannot be duplicated for the same post.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of your posts, comments, and attached media, and for not sharing content you do not have the right to share.
6. Projects and Collaboration
- You may create developer projects, add skills, and link external resources such as source repositories or demo URLs.
- Project owners may add contributors and review join requests. You agree to use collaboration features respectfully and in good faith.
- You are responsible for your project's content and for the conduct of collaboration you initiate or accept.
7. Private Messages
- DEV-TO-DEV provides private one-to-one messaging between users.
- You may not use messages to send spam, unsolicited advertising, malware, or unlawful or harassing content.
- Although messages are private, we may access or disclose them where required by law or where necessary to investigate violations of these Terms or to protect the safety of users and the service.
8. Marketplace
- The marketplace lets you list digital products or services for discovery by other developers.
- Listings are created by users, and DEV-TO-DEV is not a party to any transaction between users. Any purchase, sale, or exchange occurs between users directly (including through any external links you provide), at your own risk.
- You must provide accurate listings and may not list unlawful, infringing, or otherwise prohibited items or services.
- DEV-TO-DEV does not process payments, hold funds, or guarantee the quality, delivery, or legality of any listing.
9. Connections, Questions, and Learning
- You may connect with other developers, ask and answer questions, vote on answers, track roadmap progress, and build a developer score and streak.
- These features are provided for professional development and networking. You agree not to misuse them (for example, by artificially manipulating scores, connections, or votes).
10. Prohibited Behavior
You agree not to:
- Post unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, or otherwise harmful content.
- Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data, or interfere with the operation of the service.
- Scrape, harvest, or otherwise extract data at scale without permission.
- Send spam, malware, phishing, or deceptive content.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any applicable law or regulation.
11. Intellectual Property
- The DEV-TO-DEV name, logo, design, and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
- These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding or code except to use the service as intended.
- Your User Content remains yours. Any feedback or suggestions you provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation.
- If you believe content on DEV-TO-DEV infringes your rights, contact us so we can review it.
12. Account Suspension and Termination
- You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your access, remove your content, or limit your use of features if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your conduct harms other users or the service.
- Termination does not relieve you of obligations that survive these Terms (such as our intellectual property and liability provisions).
13. Third-Party Services
DEV-TO-DEV integrates with third-party services, including GitHub and Google (for sign-in), Cloudinary (for media storage), YouTube (for learning videos), and hosting providers for our database and caching. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
14. Privacy and Cookies

15. Disclaimers
DEV-TO-DEV is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DEV-TO-DEV and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service or any content or transactions between users.
